D & D Market in movie rental business
2009-01-14

The self-service kiosk at the store is the only place in town to rent movies. It offers new releases.

The kiosk is a vending machine-like station that allows a customer to insert cash or a credit card in return for a movie.

“There was nowhere to rent movies after the K-Spot closed,” said D&D Market co-owner Diane Cohen. “We felt like we needed to fill a void.”

The gas station had a small selection of movies before it closed last month.

Movie rentals have been available at D&D Market since last week.

But many of the business’ customers showed an interest in the kiosk as it sat empty in the store for a few days before installation, co-owner Doug Cohen said.

“The days it sat empty, people were asking about it,” he said. “Since we started renting, we’ve been getting very good feedback from customers.”

The kiosk offers over 100 DVD selections and updates its titles every week.
